IEE Adds Protocol-Translator to its Price Checkers
IEE is pleased to announce the incorporation of a protocol converter software module in its ScanVue® price checker systems allowing a seamless integration into a client’s host system.
The protocol-translator (pTrans) is a standard feature in all ScanVueâ software versions after V6.19. The pTrans module allows a server running a different price verifier application to connect to ScanVueâ without any server software modifications. The protocol-translator module is a bi-directional client that converts outgoing and incoming TCP/IP messages allowing a host computer running a non-ScanVueâ price verification software application to communicate with ScanVue.
The pTrans application (i.e., the actual code to convert between ScanVue's product information protocol and the host protocol) is written and pushed to ScanVueâ. ScanVueâ is then configured to run in pTrans mode using UnitConfig. The pTrans application can be written by the user or by IEE.
ScanVueâ options include the incorporation of a thermal printer, interactive touch screen, mag stripe reader, four front-mounted push button switches or a 20-key side mounted keypad. Display options include a ¼ VGA color TFT LCD, a 4 line by 20 character vacuum fluorescent display and a blue/white graphic LCD. IEE offers three models with an MSRP under $500.
